Quicken Rental Property Manager 2.0 is now available!

We're hearing some great feedback on our new version of Quicken Rental Property Manager.  Customers are thrilled that we've added the ability to keep track of your monthly rents (no more wondering who has and hasn't paid their rent yet) and the ability to track information on each of your tenants has also been a great addition.  And there's lots more ... you can see what's new in Version 2.0 on our website, www.quickenrental.com. You can purchase from this site now, and around Thanksgiving we'll be available in retail stores around the country (check out Staples, Office Max, Office Depot).

Version 2.0 was built based on feedback from our Version 1.0 customers -- so make sure that you continue to provide us feedback so that we can build the product that you want.  You can provide feedback from within the product, or online at www.quickenrental.com/support.

It's a great time to try Quicken Rental Property Manager to get your rental property income

and expenses organized - either for this year's taxes, or getting a jump on getting organized for next year.

Give Quicken Rental Property Manager a try ... and then tell us what you think! You can talk to other customers on our Forums about the product, or about anything related to managing your rental properties.

Enjoy!

Status Update

Hello from the Product Team!

We hope you have continued to enjoy using Quicken Rental Property Manager. We recently completed some interviews with customers like you to test some of the features planned for our next release. I’m happy to say that customers loved what they saw, as I’m sure you will, too! Some of the words our customers used were: "Wow!" "Excellent!" "Super" … "this is exactly what I wanted!")

During these ‘usability’ sessions held at the beginning of August, we were able to demonstrate some potential improvements to the areas you have been requesting most, including better rent tracking and the ability to track information about your tenants. We are continuing to get feedback on some of your other top requests in the next few weeks (if you are interested in participating, visit our forum for more information.) We will be conducting those sessions over the internet – so anyone can participate!

Thank you! More good news will be coming out shortly – so stay tuned!

Still wondering what Quicken Rental Property Manager is all about?

Hi again.  Some of you have had questions about how information on your properties is organized in the Quicken Rental Property Manager product.  Questions like: Can I track each property separately, or all together?   And how might this differ from how Quicken would track my rental properties? Is there a balance sheet for each property?

We organized the Quicken Rental Property Manager product around the way you think: by Property.  Each property has a separate set of transactions – so it’s easy to see exactly what’s going on with each of your properties.  You can see this on the main screen (i.e., the Ledger) and you can run income and expense reports to see the details, again by Property. So, it’s very easy to keep things separated by property.

The Quicken Personal Finance Software, on the other hand, is organized by Account.  You can easily see your running balance in a particular checking account that would have all of your transactions, both personal and those that apply to your rental properties.

In talking with rental property owners, we found that most use several different financial accounts for a property (checking, credit card) – and often use more than one checking account for the property (i.e., usually when you have to pull from your personal checking account to cover things going on with your rental property). So we do not ‘tie’ a particular financial account with each of your properties.

There is currently no capability to generate a balance sheet per property.  Please continue to provide your feedback on the product (including enhancements you’d like to see) … we’re planning to build what you ask for!  You can submit feedback from within the product, on our Support site, or discuss your ideas with other rental property owners on our forum.

To better understand how your rental property data is organized in the product – I recommend watching a quick demo of the product (see Demo section on the right hand side of page).

If you're interested in discussing this post with other users, please visit our forum.

Until next time …

Welcome to the Quicken Rental Property Team Blog!

Hi! My name is Theresa McGinness, and I am the manager of the team that created the Quicken Rental Property Manager product.  We created this blog to keep you posted on what’s happening with the product, especially as we look to address some of the great feedback that many of you are providing via our Forums, our Support site, and from within the product (when you click the Feedback button).  And yes, I read every piece of that data. Thank you for taking the time to provide your suggestions!  And I’ll do my best to let you know what we’re doing with all of that great information.

The Quicken Rental Property Manager product has been on the market for almost 5 months – time flies!  Several of my colleagues and I just returned from a few weeks ‘in the field’ watching our customers use the product, and to see first hand what they need most in order to successfully manage their rental properties.  What we observed and heard was fairly consistent, and we’re now taking that information, prioritizing what’s most important, and starting to schedule the work.  The team is eager to start addressing your top requests!

Stay tuned for more updates!
