Why Quicken Rental Property Manager?

Hi! My name is Suzanne Pellican and I was the lead designer for Quicken Rental Property Manager. I was asked to be one of the bloggers (my first time) since I was so involved with designing and developing the product.

Have you used it? What do you think? Have you clicked on that feedback megaphone yet? :)

You may wonder why Quicken decided to come out with a product for rental property owners…
Well, about a year ago, we talked with a bunch of customers and listened to the problems they were having tracking their properties in Quicken (most didn't know how to use classes so their category lists were out of control). After we found out about the pain they were having, we wondered what people were doing who don't use Quicken (there're a lot more who don't use it than do). What we found out was that everyone was pretty much on their own to figure out how to manage their finances for their rentals -- particularly around tracking all their income and expenses for their tax filing. The only other software out there is more tailored for the big-guy -- rental property managers -- those that have maybe 20, 30, 50, 100 properties. But what we saw was that there were a bunch of you out there that have a handful of properties -- less than 10. So, we decided that we could help you with a product that could address the biggest pain point you showed us -- getting ready for your taxes. And, we'd do it better than how you have to track it in Quicken today.

The vision that we have is to address your needs as we grow. We know that you want more in the product -- heck we have tons of feedback already (and we read every piece of it). And, we're committed to giving it to you. We had a lot of great features that we wanted to put in this release, but they didn't make it in (we really wanted to get you something in time to do your taxes this year). Keep clicking on that feedback icon in the product and providing your comments so we can prioritize what's most important for you first. We'll work quickly but not so quickly that the product will become cumbersome and difficult to use.

I'm excited to continue to hear your feedback and design a product that best suits your needs. My goal is for you to have an easier time with the product than without it. Oh, and my other goal is to buy rental property myself this year -- just like you and other members of our team! :)

Have a great day -- and I'll check in again soon.
